ABSTRACT

CLAUDIO CIUDAD B.1

A studywas made of the dry matter content of eight red clover silages subjected to different treatments. Four methods, three of which are commonly usedin the laboratory, were tested simultaneously, taking samples during four consecutive days. Tables are presented showing the comparative data significant differences between the dry matter determinations in vacuum at lOO°C, toluene and in metal boxes in forced air at 60°C, the latter method having various practical advantages.
It was established that the use of paper bags for drying silages samples is not recommendable.
