The effect of dried sugar beet pulp as a winter supplement for steers grazing on a ladino clover-perennial ryegrass pasture with a stocking rate of 4 animals per hectare was studied. In steers with initial liveweight of 368 Kg., the daily consumption of 7.44 Kg. of heet pulp produced an average daily gain of 0.714 Kg., as compared with an average daily loss of 0.095 Kg. in the group of unsupplemented animals. The steers with winter supplement attained a weight of 530 Kg. three months earlier than those steers not stipplemented.
No significant effect of the winter treatment on the following grazing period was found.
