The available Cu, Zn, Mn and Fe content of 9 volcanic ash soils of southern Chile were determined using 3 to 5 different extractions procedures for each elemento A 0,05 M EDTA solution of pH 9 was found to be the most efficient extractant. Results obtained with this extractant gave a significant statistical correlation with some of the others methods used in each case.
The results obtained point to a potential manganese deficiency in these soils. Cu, Zn and Fe availabilities seem to be adequate.
