ABSTRACT
Kalipan-INIA, a new alternative bread wheat cultivar for the south central area of Chile

Kalipan-INIA is an alternative bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) cultivar developed from a cross made in 1988 by the Wheat Project at Quilamapu Regional Research Center of the National Agricultural Research Institute (INIA), Chillán. It has been included in yield trials since 1995. It is a semi-dwarf wheat, with 85-100 cm plant height, resistant to Puccinia striiformis and Puccinia recondita . In trials, its grain yield has varied between 8 and 11 t ha-1, test weight between 83 to 85 kg hL-1, grain protein from 9 to 10% and bread volume between 500 y 640 cm3.
