There is a little information about the presence ofmites in olive orchards or trees in Chile. Therefore, entomological observations were carried out at the n, IlI, IV, V and Metropolitan Regions and four Eriophyid mites species are reported from olive trees (Olea europea L.) in Chile: Shevchenkella oleae, Oxycenus maxwelli, Tetraspinus lentus and Epitrimerus spp. Their potential economic importance and the necessity of their evaluation as a pest is analyzed for these four mite species, including D. athiasella which was previously reported in Chile.

Keywords: Shevtchenkella oleae, Oxycenus maxwelli , Tetraspinus lentus, Epitrimerus sp., olive trees, Olea europea L.
