The effect of wind shields over the yields of ten potato cultivars (Solanum tuberosum) at Magallanes Chile

María Teresa Pino Q.1 y Julio Kalazich B.

Two consecutive field trials to evaluate the effect ofwindshields overthe yields often potato cultivars were set at the area of San Gregorio (52°34'S), XII Región, at the 1993-94 and 1994-95 seasons: the first one without irrigation, as normal in the area, and the second one applying irrigation. Cultivars Atlantic, Bintje, Desiree, Kennebeck, Ona, Pehuenche, Pukará, Romano, R. Burbank y Yagana were sub-plots and windshields main effects under split plot desing with four replications, where whinshields effects on yields in both seasons were not significant (P < 0.05). However, cultivars Desiree and Pukará had yields significantly higher (P < 0.05).
