Huañil INIA, a new bread wheat cultivar for the Central Zone of Chile

Huañil lNIA is an spring bread wheat selected from a cross made by the Wheat Projet at La Platina Experiment Station in 1985. Evaluated in yield trials since 1991, entered Regional testing from 1993 to 1996. The plant is a semidwarf of 97 cm height with good straw strength. Presents resistance to Puccinia striiformis and P. recondita, with accceptable tolerance to BYDV and high yield potential with good Zeleny sedimentation, W, and bread loaf values.
