The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of native VA mycorrhizal strains on the growth of tomato and lettuce growing in nursery. The experiments were carried out by using sterile soil and two native VA mycorrhizal inocula belonging to the Glomus genera. The parameters measured were % root infection and weight of shoots and roots along time. Results showa significative beneficial effect of the symbiosis both in % root infection and on the growth. It is concluded that it is possible to inoculate tomato and lettuce nurseries producing a better growth and precocity. Different degrees of affinity between fungi and host were found.

Keywords: lettuce, tomato, VA mycorrhiza, nursery.
