During the 1990-1991 growing season a study was carried out at La Platina Experimental Station, Instituto de Investigaciones Agropecuarias, to determine the damage caused by onion fly Delia antiqua and the seed fly, Delia platura on onion seedlings. The flight fluctuations of these species was also evaluated in the study through the use of sticky white traps, in order to determine population variations in different seasons of the year. 80th species presented three flight peaks between September 1990 an May 1991, being the spring generation more abundant. The damage on onion seedlings reached 17.9% and on shallot was 35.8% on January 1991.
