The relationship between scarring of table grapes and thrips during blossoming period was studied through bagged Ilower clusters to eliminate or conline thrips. The observations were carried out at Los Andes, La Cruz (V Region) and Paine (Metropolitan Region), on the cultivars Thompson Seedless, Ribier, Calmería and Flame Seedless. Adult Thrips tabaci colonized the cluster mainly during anthesis probably lured by pollen because they leed on il. The lemale oviposited in the rachis of the cluster, pedicels and newly developing berries, leaving small scars visible only with a 10x lens. The nymphs led on pollen and internaltissues of the calyptra. Some leeding also occurred on the surlace of newly developing berries which caused scarring. However the amount of damage was limited and occurred only under high nymphal densities. Apparently, Franklíniella cestrum does not cause scarring but it was associated with halo spot around the ovipositions site.Natural enemies of thrips in the cluster included spiders of the Clubionidae and Anyphaenidae lamilies.
