Relationshlps between ammonlum content and waterberry on table grapes

Rafael Ruiz S,1 y Stella Moyano A,1

Comparison of ammonium content on table grape rachis and berries from clusters showing waterberry symptoms with those wealthy tissues indicated higher amount of this ion in affected plant tissues. However, results do not demonstrate a direct toxic effeet of ammonium ion because in sorne cases atfected tissues showed ammonium contents in the sama range as the wealthy anes. Extra ammonium content obtained from rachis showing waterberry symptoms could be considered as a colateral sffeet of a nitrogen metabolie disfunction more than a cause of this sindrome.

Keywords: table grape, waterberry, ammonium.
