ABSTRACT
Scald of triticale in Chile

Ricardo Madariaga B.1 y Mario Mellado Z.1

Rhynchosporium secalis was determined from leaves of triticale (X.Triticosecale Whitmack) affected by severe blotching similar to that described as barley scald. Wheat plots growing contiguosly were not affected. Conidia morphology (hyaline, bicellular and one cell with the conspicuos beak) and dimenslons (11.8 ± 0.9 x 2.8 ± 0.5 μ) were similar and slightly smaller than the fungus described on barley.

Keywords: triticale, scald, Rhynchosporium.
