During 1985 a field trial was done with different treatments to control the stem and bulb nematode, Ditylenchus dipsaci (Kuhn) Filipjev on Rosado-INIA garlic. The field selected was severely infested with this nematode. The following products were applied to the infested seed: on inmmersion, for 100 L of water and for 100 kg: Vydate L (oxamyl) 500 ml/24 hr, Furadan 4F (carbofuran) 150 mlj6 hr, Nemacur 400 E.C. (phenamiphos) 150 ml/8 hr and crushed garlic, 25 kg/18 hr. As a slurry, with 4 L of water and for 100 kg: Vydate L, 250 ml/15 min, Furadan 4F, 150 ml/15 min and Nemacur 400 E.C., 150 ml/15 mino The soil treatments were: Furadan 10 g, 20 kg/ha and Temik 15 G (aldicarb) 15 kg/ha. Thechecks were infested seed and healthy seed. Healthy seed and all the treatments applied to the seed and to the soil gave significant higher yields and lower percentages of infested bulbs compared with the infested check.
